What partners should say about who finishes signup

Partners need two sentences, in this order, every time. Utility Connect sets up the other home services on a call with the client: deregulated electricity, internet, TV and cable, satellite, phone, home security, insurance, home warranty, and movers. Gas, water, trash, and electricity in a regulated market are different. We locate those providers and send the client the information. The client enrolls, because those providers have to speak with the account holder.

The inaccurate shortcut is "We'll connect your utilities." It hides the local enrollments and produces a dark or dry first night the client thought your office had finished. Say both jobs. Clients can use both. They cannot skip their name on the water account.

The sentences worth memorizing

"Utility Connect will set up internet, TV, security, home warranty, and the other home services with you on a call, and if your electric market lets you choose a plan, that too. For gas, water, trash, and electric where there is only one utility, they will send you the phone numbers and you enroll yourself. Those companies require it."

A shorter version, if you need one line on a slide: "They set up the home services on the call. You enroll the local utilities." Both halves have to stay. The first without the second is how people think the city was handled.

Where they have to show up

Put them in the text after clear-to-close, on the microsite, in the lease packet, and out loud if a client asks whether the power and water will be on. Train showing agents, coordinators, leasing staff, and move captains on the same words. A brochure with the right split and a hallway promise that "it's all taken care of" still produces the hallway version.

What you can offer

  • An introduction to the call, by link, card, or email
  • The address, unit, and possession date, so the research is about the right door
  • A reminder that the local utilities in the email are still theirs to enroll
  • A second call if the date moves and the setups need new start dates

You should not offer to call the water department for them, to pass a Social Security number, or to confirm a municipal deposit. If they ask, repeat the second sentence and point them at the number in the notes.

What we will say if they call

They will hear the same split. We will set up the services we set up, with them on the line. We will send the local information and we will not submit those applications. There is no VIP exception. You can say the call is free to the household. You should not promise a particular rate, and you should not promise a local utility is already on.

Common questions

Can our coordinator finish the water call if the client is overwhelmed?

Your coordinator can sit with them and read the notes. The client has to give the identity details and agree to the start. Handing the phone to the coordinator and leaving is not enrollment.

Can we say the internet will be set up?

Yes, if you mean on the call with the client, after they choose a plan that reaches the address. Do not say it is already done before that call.

Where should this live in writing?

In the message that delivers the link, and on the page the link opens. If you want that page in your brand, talk with us. A closing-day version is in a closing-table sentence that stays accurate.
