Send the call when the estimate is signed. Local utilities are still the customer’s to enroll before delivery day.
Movers and relocation companies see the household when the dates are real. That is the right moment to mention the Utility Connect call, and the wrong moment to say the local utilities are handled as part of the load. On the call we set up internet, TV, security, insurance, home warranty, and deregulated electricity with the customer, and we can coordinate around your delivery window. Gas, water, trash, and regulated electric are sent to them as information. They enroll. Your crew's job is the furniture. The account holder's job is those local enrollments. The call's job is the other services.
You already collect the destination, the delivery window, and a phone number. Add the split, and send the link the same day. Two weeks is a comfortable window for an install and for a city desk. If the assignment is shorter, send it anyway and tell them to take the call the day the link arrives, then enroll the local utilities before cutoff.
A corporate relocation guide will be forwarded to every transferee. If the guide says the utilities will be connected, transferees will treat that as a work order. Write both jobs. We will tell them the truth if the guide overpromises, and the guide will be the document that was wrong.
Drivers should not pretend to be the account holder so a city technician will start work. Build that into dispatch.
Stopping service at the origin is the customer's call to those existing providers. Starting local service at the destination is their enrollment after our notes. Starting internet and the other services is the setup call. Your bill of lading triggers none of the three. Mention all three briefly so the old house is not shut off a week early or left running a month.
Have them pull up confirmations before the ramp comes down. Local confirmations come from their enrollments. The others come from the call. If they never called us, they can do it from the curb and then enroll the local utilities, understanding a same-morning municipal start may be impossible. We would rather they hear that early than after the crew is gone.
Yes, if the next sentence says they still enroll in gas, water, trash, and regulated electric. The call itself is free to the household. "Included" without that sentence will be heard as "the city is done."
The customer has them. Ask the customer to show you the email if a crew decision depends on power or water. Do not ask for identity documents.
On movers and relocation. The wording to train on is do not promise the local utilities are connected.
